INSPIRATION:
„The Vanity“ is a reflection on the golden facade we often build around ourselves. The canvas shines, but what is rooted in it – the charcoal – reminds us that all ostentation is born from something raw, unformed, sometimes painful.
The black charcoals – rough, brittle, cut – are like the emotions we hide under the mask of perfection.
The golden background – seductive and smooth – is the surface we show the world. But when you get closer, you see the cracks. You see the gold crumble where the charcoal insists on being seen.
This painting is a portrait of contemporary society, ambition, pain and the need for acceptance. „The Vanity“ is not a reproach, it is a confession. It asks: If we remove the gold… will we dare to love black?
